How to try it

  1. Start the mirror

It opens in True mode on this page.

  2. Hold up some text

Text reads normally in True mode, backwards in Mirror mode.

  3. Switch back and forth

Tap Mirror and True to compare. Faces are rarely fully symmetrical, so the difference can be easy to see.

Questions and answers

What is a true mirror?

A true mirror shows you without the left-right flip of an ordinary mirror. A parting on your left appears on the left side of the picture, as it does for someone facing you.

Is the true mirror how others see me?

It shows the same orientation others see. Light, distance, angle and the camera lens still change how a face looks, so no single picture is the whole truth.

Why do I prefer the normal mirror?

Most people see their mirror image far more often than their unflipped face, and familiar faces tend to look better to us. See why you look different.

Does the photo keep the true mirror?

Yes. The photo is saved the way you see it on screen: flipped in Mirror mode, unflipped in True mode.
